What is a Cheek Lift surgery?

The term cheek lift is a sometimes confusing term as it can be non-surgical or surgical in reference. The non-surgical face lift and cheek lift options are reviewed in our section on  Non Surgical Face Lift . A surgical cheek lift is simply another name for the small face lift or the weekend facelift and we suggest your review this Face Lift  section of our website.

What is the benefit of Cheek Lift surgery?

This procedure is designed for the younger patient with minimal to moderate aging changes who are not satisfied with the non-surgical or dermal filler cheek enhancement and also have no need for any significant neck lift.

The main benefit is small incision and shorter recovery time. It is expected that cheek lift surgery is a day surgery procedure where you will go home the same day, usually a Friday, and then be able to return to work possibly on the Monday or Tuesday. We always advise that a weeks' recovery is required and to avoid work and play during this time but it is possible to recover enough to be at work or play earlier than the full week.

How is the Cheek Lift surgery different from a traditional Face Lift surgery?

The cheek lift or weekend face lift surgery is completed via a smaller incision than the traditional facelift incision. There is similar cheek lift achieved with both however the neck is not addressed by the cheek lift surgery.

The cheek lift surgery will improve the appearance of jowls and the nasolabial lines in clients in their 30-50s, especially clients who have been spending regularly thousands of dollars to use dermal filler to enhance the malar projection (cheek contour). In some cases when there is already adequate volume in the cheek tissues, but it has just descended with gravity to create the nasolabial folds and early jowls, then these cosmetic issues can be corrected with the weekend lift or cheek lift surgery.

Can you have other procedures at the same time as the Cheek Lift surgery?

Yes. Other common procedures associated with the cheek lift are the endoscopic brow lift, mini-incision brow lift, eyelid surgery and facial implant surgery. As our surgical procedures are completed in an accredited day surgery or private hospital there is no laser skin resurfacing or other non-surgical procedures that can be performed at the same times as the cheek lift or small face lift surgery.

How do you decide if a Cheek Lift is required?

You know you are a candidate for a Cheek Lift if you are regularly spending money on dermal fillers to enhance the appearance of your cheeks and to address nasolabial lines that are mild to moderate in nature.

If a small lift of 1cm corrects your cheek position and nasolabial fold then the weekend face lift or cheek lift may be the correct option if it achieves your desired outcome.

At your initial consultation with Dr John Webster at the Oral Facial & Implant Centre in Toowoomba he will review four key areas that will help determine what surgery, if any, is required to achieve your desired results.

  • Your desired appearance and treatment expectations
  • Your suitability, general health and well-being
  • Your ability to take time off work/play to allow appropriate recovery time
  • Your financial limitations or treatment budget

No two face lift procedures are the same as no two faces are identical in every way. Dr John Webster will discuss all of the above four points with you extensively, to ensure the right treatment is tailored to your specific face and lifestyle.
