What should you expect at your initial consultation?

Free parking with close access to a ramp and lift will have you in our conveniently located practice with ease. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly team and be required to complete your Medicare details, health fund and medical history forms prior to your consultation with Dr John Webster. For your convenience, you can have the medical history form sent via email so you can pre-fill your information and return prior to your appointment if you desire.

We pride ourselves on running on time and value your time also.

During your initial consultation with Dr John Webster, he will listen to your concerns, complete a thorough examination, review and explain your X-rays/scan results and take the time to formulate a treatment plan that is specific to your needs and concerns. You will have an opportunity to have your questions answered in a safe and caring environment.

Following your consultation/s and informed consent, you will be provided with a written quotation and have informed financial consent completed. Any appropriate imaging or pathology request forms, prescriptions or post-surgical instructions and medical certificates will be provided by our team. If you wish to proceed with treatment a date can also be arranged prior to departure from the practice with the knowledge that all your paperwork and medications are ready for the surgical day. For cosmetic surgery patients you will be required to undergo two consultations with Dr Webster prior to being permitted to schedule your desired surgery.

What do you need to bring to your consultation?

Most likely you will have been referred to see Dr John Webster, a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS) by a General Practitioner (GP), General Dentist or another medical practitioner. Please ensure this referral is brought with you or sent from the referring practice to our practice prior to your initial appointment.

If you have complex medical history or medications please bring a printed copy of these or ask your GP to send a copy to our practice so we have all of your current medications and previous medical history on file.

In most cases you will have X-rays, OPG Xray, CT or MRI scans already completed so please bring these to your appointment on disc or in hard copy if available. If you have scans from Qld Xray or Downs Radiology our team can access and merge these images into your medical file for you. If you have scans from your dentist or another radiology group, please bring a hard copy or digital file on the day of your initial appointment.

Can you receive consultation and treatment on the same day?

The Oral Facial & Implant Centre and Dr John Webster understand that many patients travel hundreds of kilometres to seek our surgical solutions and treatments.

Should you desire a same-day consultation followed by a local anaesthetic procedure in the practice such as a removal of a tooth, skin lesion or cosmetic non-surgical treatments, then these treatments can often be facilitated if you call at the time of the referral and clearly advise you wish for same-day treatment. Sometimes this is not always possible and sometimes you will be referred for further imaging before a treatment can be recommended and performed safely.

Should you desire for a same-day consultation followed by a general anaesthetic in the afternoon this can occur on a Tuesday. If the appropriate X-rays and scans are completed before the initial consultation and the general anaesthetic is booked well in advance of your consultation day this can definitely be planned to streamline your patient journey. Please advise at the time of referral if this is the desired method for you.

We strive to meet the needs of our customer locally and afar so the more information you can supply before the initial consultation the more likely we can provide a same day service and/or facilitate the appropriate imaging for you prior to the day.

All patients or clients under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by their guardian or consenting adult to be part of the decision making process and sign forms etc.
