How Do Lip Fillers Work?

Lip Fillers revitalise and instantly boost your skin to give you a fuller and more natural-looking lip shape.

Lip Fillers involve injecting into the lip area a naturally occurring aesthetic gel-based substance. The aim is to restore shape, volume and hydration.

The injectable molecules bind with water in the skin and regulate your skin’s water balance. The material also acts as a lubricant and shock absorbers for the lip tissue, and helps to restore natural volume.

The lips require a specific filler that is offers a robust consistency to ensure a consistent, natural and subtle result. The Lip Filler selection is also dependent on the desired result and longevity to be achieved.

Lip Fillers temporarily improve the volume and are most effective when carried out in combination with Anti-Wrinkle Injections to reduce the signs of ageing.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Once the formula is injected, it immediately begins will change your appearance.

Once the Hyaluronic Acid fillers are injected, the gel in the filler supports and shapes the tissues of the lips. So in just 30 minutes the results of the treatment are clear.

How Long Do Lip Fillers Last?

Lip Fillers effects can typically last for up to 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the product used.

This duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age, as well as the type and amount of product used.

Depending on the Lip Filler used, the results can be permanent, semi permanent and non-permanent, but over time the body will absorb the injected material and the target areas will return to their pre-treatment appearance.

If you are dissatisfied with the benefits of a single injection, a second injection can be given after 2 weeks.
Once you achieve a satisfactory result, the next visit is scheduled after 6 months.

Common Questions

If you have a specific question about your treatment, we recommend contacting the clinic
  • What is Injected?

Lip Filler injectables are a specialised formula derived Hyaluronic Acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in the human body.

  • Does It Hurt?

Everyone experiences pain differently and has different pain thresholds. When it comes to anti-wrinkle injections, it is a relatively painless procedure, though a mild stinging sensation may be felt.

Most people compare the sensation of the face injections to a quick prick or a slight pinching feeling, but it only lasts for a few seconds.

Lip Filler treatments require no anaesthetic, however, a topical anaesthetic can be used for Lip fillers if needed.

  • What if I Am Pregnant?

It is not recommended to receive injectable treatments while pregnant, as the risks are uncertain due to the lack of information available about the effect on the fetus.

For more information please call us on and request to speak with one of our medically-trained registered doctor or nurse.

  • What if I am Not 18 years old?

We do not treat anyone under the age of 18 for cosmetic injectables. We do offer a wide range of skin treatments suitable for your age group.

We welcome you to visit our clinic with a parent or guardian to discuss any of these options.

  • How Much Will I Need?

To determine the correct dosage you need to book in for a consultation with Clinic.

With regular treatments, the dosage can be reduced.

  • Can I Bring My Child?

Whilst we all love children, in the interest of health and safety, children cannot accompany patients in the treatment rooms or be supervised by staff.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Possible Risks or Side Effects?

Dermal  Fillers are safe and effective.

The risk of allergic reaction is minimal, however, there are risks involved with any cosmetic injectable treatment.

    These risks can include:

    • minor swelling,
    • redness, and tenderness
    • bruising.

Such side effects typically dissipate within one to two days and can be camouflaged with make-up.

While serious complications are rare, infections and allergic reactions can occur.

The injected Dermal Filler can also move away from the injection area, forming lumps underneath the skin.

Sometimes these can be massaged away. In other cases, the bumps remain until the body absorbs the dermal filler

  • Do You Offer Discounts?

Due to strict regulations set by the Therapeutic Goods Act (TGA) it is against the law to discount an injectable treatment.

Discounted treatments should raise alarm bells when you are choosing which clinic to trust your treatment to.

The skill of the injector is more important than price. An efficient injector will achieve maximum result with minimum product.
